About South Birmingham Sinfonia

SBS is a thriving non-professional orchestra with around 50 members, performing a wide range of music including major symphonic works and concertos with professional soloists. Our musical director is Sabrina Ko who joined us in 2021.

Concert series are presented twice yearly, for which the orchestra rehearses on Monday evenings during term-time. Playing to an extremely high standard, SBS is a non-professional ensemble that has flourished in recent years, expanding its musical horizons and playing increasingly exciting and challenging repertoire.

Recent programmes have included Tchaikovsky’s Fourth and Sixth Symphonies, Bruckner’s Sixth and Ninth Symphonies, as well as concertos by Sibelius, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov.

South Birmingham Sinfonia is honoured to have distinguished international violinist Michael Bochmann as its Honorary Patron.
